Flanagan started writing songs and playing them in Boston-area bars in 1992. It was a wishful pursuit by an unschooled beginner, adrift in life, guided by raw musical intuition and a passionate desire to connect with the world.
It's a singular accomplishment for any artist to be able to put across the essence of what she's made of, purely, without disclaimers or pretension. Natalie's music is powerful and real because it's all true; it's all her. The songs sound like a dream overheard, a private conversation from deep in the middle of a memory. She takes you right into the soul of an experience; you can feel it. It's a beta state.

When Rebecca Rennie grows up she wants to be a concert pianist or a foreign correspondent. This seems pretty reasonable considering she has played Classical piano since the age of 5 & studied Spanish, French, German & Linguistics at University. She is, in a sense, already a foreign diplomatic - she has traveled to Ecuador, Copenhagen, New York, Amsterdam, London, Hamburg to perform & promote her original music.
Since his return to North America to join the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, he has specialized in the viola d'amore, performing solos on that instrument with Tafelmusik across North America, in Japan, in Europe and in Australia. He has presented lecture demos on the history and repertoire of the viola d'amore in the United States, in Canada and in Australia. He has recorded for Sony Vivarte, BMG and CBC.
