Who
Is The One Eyed King?
Recognised, as one of London's most dynamic poets,
Beyonder is a multiple-slam winner. His titles include the
prestigious Urban Griots Poetry Slam Championship (in 2000 &
2001), the Lyrical Court All-Stars Grand Slam and the Born to Shine
Poetry Slam.
A naturally talented and gifted poet and writer (of short stories,
short film scripts), Beyonder is published in 'X' magazine and
LOUNGIN' a visionary publication produced in collaboration
with fellow creatives, Urbanspirit and Antony @ Juice. His
work has been broadcast on cable TV, the Internet and on radio. His
performances have taken him to Europe and across the United States,
where he has been featured at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in New York
and the De Nacten Festival in the Netherlands and Belgium (Amsterdam
& Antwerp).
Not short of creative credentials, as a filmmaker Beyonder has
written, produced and starred in the much-lauded, revolutionary
short 'DIGITALIS'. A film that has received nominations at a
number of the UK's established film festivals such as The Raindance
Film Festival (2002), and The 4th BFM international Film Festival
(2002) to name a few. It has also been screened at the
Portobello Film Festival (2002), Bradford Film Festival (2003), and
most recently (Sept 2003) at the launch reception of the BFM's 5th
International Film Festival in London's Living Room, City Hall (The
Mayor of London's office building).
Early in 2003, Artistic Director Kwesi Johnson's, Kompany Malakhi,
cast Beyonder in the lead role as 'MC Sleazy' in the physical
theatre play 'A Hip-Hop Story' which embarked on a UK national tour
to much critical acclaim.
