Flowby
"If
you've ever experienced a piece of music that sends indisputable
shivers through every nerve and sinew in your body you'll know that
it had to be something somewhat unique. Something so compulsive that
it can embrace your dreams, cut short your thoughts and weave itself
into your daily chores. Hush Collector's Debut EP manages to do just
this...Their debut 'Flowby' manages to seduce the listener, haunting
their mind with the most intense, spirited vocals conceivable...they
have a natural flair for producing the most intricate, poignant
music on the western front. Each track is the perfect blend of
sumptuous, yet at times morose vocals, married to the captivating
sounds of the acoustic guitar. With a sound so distinctive there can
be no instantaneous comparisons, Hush Collector manages to wrap you
up and reel you into their harmonious world...With such a genuinely
exquisite sound there need be no labeling or criticism, Hush
Collector are a genuine act who are set to make their mark on the
music industry very soon".

History
Take a pinch of The Cowboy Junkies, mix it up with
hints of Calexico and give it a 4AD sensibility. Now set it down by
the coast to give it that sense of natural space. Sounds nice, yes?
If you talk about 'music for grown-ups' it sounds dull. Too often
'emotional songs from the heart' means the sterile emptiness of this
years Coldplay imitators and words like 'chilled' are abused beyond
meaning. Hush Collector are all these things - as they are meant to
be. It sounds like the easiest thing in the world, but it isn't. So
when you find it...
Flowby, a four-track ep, doesn't sound like a debut release. It
sounds formed, a fully-realised work made by people who know what
they're doing. There's a good reason for that. Hush Collector -
Poppy Gonzalez (vocals, piano, acoustic guitar, percussion), Katie
Mummery (vocals, piano, acoustic guitar) and Peter Simmons (guitars,
bass) - have done this before. From their previous involvement with
Mojave 3 (4AD) to credits on the debut Sing-Sing album (Poptones)
and vocals for London underground dj Harold Heath (Urban Torque),
they have honed their craft individually, polished their ideas and
now together they are ready.
Based in Brighton on the British south coast, Hush Collector take
you to a place where drifting melancholy collides with haunting
melody and country-tinged harmonies jostle with an edgy blues
guitar. It is an inviting place - trust us. (jed Novick - Music

Some excerpts from press reviews :
"If you've ever experienced a piece of music that sends
indisputable shivers through every nerve and sinew in your body
you'll know that it had to be something somewhat unique. Something
so compulsive that it can embrace your dreams, cut short your
thoughts and weave itself into your daily chores. Hush Collector's
Debut EP manages to do just this"... (Alt Links)
"...sunbeaten laidback rock music, a country gust blowing
through it along with a Cocteau Twins-like breeze. A delicate
creature to be well looked after" (The Vanity Project Mag)
"All the buttons that make us swoon...vocals that are so
seductive, you can feel them hooking you in...delicate countryside
melody that simmers with desire...alluringly sultry warming nighttime
Mediterranean windswept aspect that recalls Ana D of Elefante
records fame, with the Ghost of Nick Drake peeking over their
shoulder...A truly wonderful debut release"...(Losing Today
Mag)
"...In the hazy drunken moments whilst your thoughts are
falling out of your head and scuttling under the bed you need
something to soundtrack it...the rich vocal a siren song to your
hazy memory. Pitched somewhere between Mazzy Star and Azure Ray, it
results in something poised on the edge of prettiness with enough
disturbing whispers to keep you interested". (Americana UK)
"a slightly dark brand of acoustic-tinged slowcore that is rich
in melody and texture......a gorgeous musical statement.......a
sumptuous exercise in restraint and emotion......leaving the
listener begging for more"..(Somewhere Cold Magazine)
"Hush Collector creeps into your head with stealth. Before you
realize it, you're caught in their atmospheric trap, mesmerized by
the mysterious solitude created by their music.... They manage to do
in four songs what most groups fail to do in an entire album---which
is captivate and manipulate without tiring out the listener"...
