Everything That You Are

Mook's debut LP is a dreamy delight featuring  12 acoustic folk/pop songs, blended with gentle vocals, swirling synths & lush orchestral arrangements.

"This is one of those CDs that you put into the player and you don't take it out for days. It's dreamy pop at it's best"

(Collected Sounds)

Mook (a.k.a. Jill Farrar) is a songwriter from Sheffield who began her ventures in music with childhood piano lessons and playing the oboe in wind bands and orchestras. Surprisingly it was the oboe that led her to discover rock n roll when she was asked to join a local indie band looking to broaden their sound.

History

Jill wrote, recorded & produced her first solo album 'Everything That You Are' under the name of Mook in Spring 2002 and later released it on her own label Pod records. A second Mook album 'The Human Race' then followed in February 2003. Both albums are full of alternative pop tunes & laid back acoustic songs that blend guitars, drums, bass and synth's together with soothing vocals and orchestral instrumentation, and can be heard at Mook's website, IUMA and MP3.com.

Jill takes her inspiration from her own thoughts and the melodies that frequently pop into her head, and has had her sound likened to songwriters such as Kathryn Williams, Badly Drawn Boy, Dido, and the band Belle & Sebastian.

Inbetween writing for Mook, Jill also writes and records with Sheffield band 'The Bedford Incident & is currently writing more songs for future releases.
